Pilgrim Places

A network of contemplative peaceful spaces offering the chance to experience and explore Christian spirituality

Pilgrim Places

Pilgrim Places is a network of open, welcoming, peaceful spaces across the north of England offering the chance to spend some time in contemplation of your life journey, the opportunity to join the long line of pilgrims who have visited sacred spaces and been changed and renewed by their visits. A pilgrim visit is a chance to appreciate the heritage of ancient religious buildings, but also to reassess life and to experience and explore Christian spirituality.

Whatever brings you here, wherever you’ve come from, whatever you’ve been through, and wherever you’re going, we are glad to welcome you to St. Peter’s and hope that by sharing in the beauty and tranquillity of this place you will find peace, hope, comfort, and understanding to take back into your everyday journey of life.

This has been a site of Christian worship from Anglo Saxon times. Being here offers you quiet space to pause and explore your own experiences and thoughts, like pilgrims did of old, and still do today. Take some time away from your ‘ordinary’ day to day existence to think about your journey through life and to connect with God today, and every day, so that you are strengthened on your journey by developing your inner relationship with him.

There are cards, leaflets and booklets in church to help you, to read during your visit and to take away with you. You’ll find a map showing other Pilgrim Places you can visit here.

God bless you on your journey.
